Dumond leads Men's Soccer to season-opening 6-0 winSALISBURY, NC- Sophomore Jason Dumond (Coppell, TX) tallied two goals and two assists, while junior Zay-Zay Gilewala (Monrovia, LIBERIA) added two goals in leading 16th-ranked Catawba College to a 6-0 season-opening win against the visiting Barton Bulldogs in men’s soccer action on Saturday night at Frock Field. Both teams opened up their season tonight. Freshman Aaron Castaneda (San Antonio, TX) opened the scoring with his first collegiate goal, from a Ryan Frommel (Houston, TX) feed, putting the Indians up 1-0. Dumond scored the first of his two in the 26th minute, then assisted on Gilewala’s two goals, three and five minutes later. Dan Fitzgerald (Seaford, DE) turned-away five Bulldog shots, taking the Tribe into the locker room with a 4-0 lead at the half. Second-half scoring opened up with Dumond’s second up the night in the 56th minute, with Frommel picking up his second helper in the match. The goals concluded with sophomore Nathan Zuzga (Troy, MI) grabbing his first of the season, from Troy Brown (Burlington, NC) in the 79th minute. Barton goalkeeper Ike Onyeador (Potomac Falls, VA) made spectacular saves in the second half, earning four on the night.
