Men's Soccer gets 4-2 win over Virginia Intermont

SALISBURY, NC – Catawba College, ranked 19th in NCAA II, scored three first half goals in a driving rain and went on to defeat visiting Virginia Intermont 4-2 in men’s soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Frock Field. The Indians improve to 7-2, while the Cobras fall to 8-5. Nathan Zuzga (Troy, MI) got the Tribe on the board in the 17th minute just before a heavy rain set in. Catawba added a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes of the half to increase the advantage. Gareth Turnbull (Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND) tallied in the 37th minute and Jason Dumond (Coppell, TX) followed in the 40th minute. Zay-Zay Gilewala (Monrovia, LIBERIA) scored his team-leading ninth goal just three muinutes into the second half to give the Tribe a 4-0 lead. The Cobras notched their first goal with just over 27 minutes to play as Chris Gallucci (Ontario, CANADA) stuck home a cross from Alan Delahunty (Waterford, IRELAND). VIC would tally again just 22 seconds from time on a goal by Marc McCormick (Newmains, SCOTLAND).
