Haverty named SAC Women's Golf Player of Year for third time

ROCK HILL, SC – Presbyterian College standout freshman Hugh Morrison, who led the South Atlantic Conference in scoring in his debut season, was named the SAC’s Men’s Golf Co-Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, while teammate Jimi Brindell, who was second in the league in scoring, was also named Co-Player of the Year. Catawba College junior Paige Haverty was named Women’s Golf Player of the Year for the third year in a row. Haverty (Greenville, NC) led the SAC in scoring with an average of 77.79. She had the lowest round of the season with a 69 at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational in October, matching the lowest women’s golf round in SAC history. She was the medallist at four events this year. Haverty also earned all-conference honors for the third straight year, while senior Marja Hatfield (East Winthrop, ME) earned All-SAC honors for the first time, selected to the second team. Hatfield has an 86.3 stroke average this season, five shots better than her three-year career average.
