Landry's two goals sparks Men's Soccer to win over Davis & Elkins
SALISBURY, NC – Catawba got a pair of goals from freshman Andrew Landry (Oshawa, ONT, CANADA) and defeated visiting Davis & Elkins 5-1 in men’s soccer action on Saturday night at Frock Field.
With the win, the Catawba Indians improve to 3-2, while the Senators fall to 2-3. Landry scored off an assist from Nathan Brown (Huntersville, NC) in the 22nd minute to give Catawba the early lead. The Senators scored an equalizer in th 37th minute on a goal by Cole Johnson, but the Tribe struck back less than two minutes later on a tally by freshman Kyle Jones (Tallahassee, FL) for a 2-1 lead at the break. Brown found the net just over five minutes into the second half for a 3-1 advantage and Landry added his second in the 71st minute. Ryan Villiard (Holiday, FL) capped the scoring 10 minutes from time on a second assist from Brown. Tyler Held (Virginia Beach, VA) recorded seven saves in goal for Catawba, while John Parsons made eight stops for the Senators.
