Men's Soccer wins sixth straight; Turnbull gets 100th win

SALISBURY, NC – Catawba’s Troy Brown (Burlington, NC) scored just 31 seconds into the match and the Catawba Indians went on to defeat visiting West Virginia Wesleyan 4-2 in men’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Frock Field.

Catawba improves to 8-2, winning its sixth straight match, while the Bobcats fall to 4-5-1. The win also gave Coach Craig Turnbull his 100th win and highlighted a reunion day with former players and coaches in attendance. Brown’s goal came as Ryan Villiard (Holiday, FL) send a cross into the box that Andrew Landry (Oshawa, ONT, CANADA) knocked to Brown’s foot. Villiard would score a goal of his own in the 18th minute for a 2-0 lead.

The Bobcats cut the margin in half in the 24th minute on a tally by Marc Farrell (Edinboro, PA), but Catawba answered three minutes later on a goal by freshman Kyly Ganow (State College, PA) for a 3-1 edge at the break. Nathan Zuzga (Troy, MI) scored his team-leading eight goal of the year in the 67th minute to put the Tribe on top 4-1. Drew Lotocki (Langhorne, PA) got the final goal for WV Wesleyan in the 76th minute.
