Women's Golf finishes second in SAC, Kyle sets record

NEWBERRY, SC – Catawba College recorded its best-ever finish at the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Golf Championship, posting a three-round score of 1007 to finish second. Wingate won the title by 26 shots. The tournament was held at the 5,815-yard, par-72 Newberry Country Club in conjunction with the SAC Spring Sports Festival at Newberry and Presbyterian Colleges. Sophomore Kristen Kyle fired a school record round of 76 in Thursday’s final round to lead Catawba. She finished in second overall, just a shot behind medalist Aubrey Mosley, of Newberry. She had equaled her own school mark with a 78 in the second round. Senior Aimee Davis finished ninth in her final collegiate tournament. Wingate was led by Daniela Kessler, who finished fourth after three rounds of 79, while Chris Mechereffe placed third on 236. Both earned all-tournament honors along with Mosley, Kyle and Lenoir-Rhyne’s Meghan Jolly.
