Defensive duo together again
Former Catawba football All-America defensive ends, Radell Lockhart and DeVonte Peterson, are playing together once again as members of the Scotland Claymores of the NFL Europe League. Both have seen ample playing time as the team carries only six defensive linemen.Lockhart, the 2000 South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year has made 10 tackles in six games this season at defensive end. Eight of those are unassisted stops and he also caused a fumble in last week's win over Amsterdam.
Peterson, the 1999 SAC Defensive Player of the Year, has been credited with nine tackles as a defensive tackle. Five are unassisted and he has also broke up a pass.
Catawba defensive line coach Jim Tomsula also serves as the line coach for the Claymores and is in his fourth year with the club. Scotland is 3-3 on the season. Former Catawba defensive coordinator is an assistant with the Berlin Thunder, who also stand at 3-3. All NFL Europe League games can be seen through FOX Sports and DirecTV.
