Men's Soccer Looks Forward After Turn-Around Season in 2010
In the second season under Head Coach Liam Farrell, the Catawba men’s soccer team made strides to return to one of the top programs in the South Atlantic Conference. Starting eight newcomers in 2010, the Indians doubled their win total from last season and posted ten wins for the first time since 2006.
The 10-8-1 record this season marked the best since the 11-9 campaign in 2006 and four of the losses were by a single goal. Ten different players scored goals for the Indians, five being freshmen. Sophomore Carson Smith, who earned second team All-South Atlantic Conference honors, led the way with nine goals and also handed out a team-high eight assists.
“I am extremely proud of this group. Our underclassmen played well beyond their years and our lone senior, Mark Ketterer, brought a tremendous amount of leadership, grit and determination to everything we did. I am excited about the where the program is heading. The guys were in the weight room a week after our season ended-they are a pretty determined group.”
