Men's Soccer Draws With Lenoir-Rhyne


SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba gained another point in the South Atlantic Conference standings with a 1-1 tie against Lenoir-Rhyne Wednesday evening at Frock Field. The Indians now stand at 7-8-2 overall and 2-4-2 in the SAC, while the Bears go to 7-8-2 and 3-4-1.

The first half ended scoreless where both teams combined for only six shots.

The Bears struck first in the 79th minute when Zach Carles connected from five yards out off a long ball into the box for the 1-0 lead.

The Indians would counter 40 seconds later as Corey Faughnan (Jacksonville, NC/Jacksonville HS) headed home a Carson Smith (Mooresville, NC/Mooresville HS) corner from point-blank range to equalize.

Evan Harvey (Apex, NC/Apex HS) had four stops in net for Catawba. The Indians attempted five tries at goal to the Bear’s eight.

Catawba will close out the regular season with a South Atlantic Conference road test at Brevard on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 4:00 pm.
