Men's Soccer blanks Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, NC -- Catawba College scored two first-half goals and went on to shutout host Lenoir-Rhyne 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Bears Field. The Indians improve to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the SAC, while L-R falls to 2-8-1 and 1-4. Catawba got its two goals in the first 28 minutes of the match and were able to hold on from there. Jake Pace (Salisbury, NC) scored on one-on-one with Bears' goalkeeper Matt Collins at the 21:21 mark. Six minutes later, Mo Norman (Clive, IA) netted one in from the top of the box to make it 2-0. Both goals were unassisted. The Bears were limited to five shots while Catawba tallied 10. Collins picked up five saves and Indians goalkeeper Dave Durham (Oak Ridge, TN) made one save to earn the shutout.
