Men Score Two Wins, Women Lose Close One at Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, SC -- The Catawba men claimed victories over Chestnut Hill 8-1 and USC Lancaster 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Hilton Head. The Lady Indians lost a hard-fought match to Chestnut Hill 5-4. The men are 11-5 and the women 6-8.

Jess Goodall (Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA/Northcliff HS), Matthew Nicholson (Chawara, ZIMBABWE/Lomabundi HS), Uri Yarkoni (Kelowna, BC, CANADA/Okanagan HS) and Corey Eldridge (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township HS) each won two singles matches on the day for the men. Catawba’s #2 and #3 doubles teams also won twice.

Candace Hall (Denver, NC/E. Lincoln HS) and Olivia Myers (Lexington, NC/W. Davidson HS) picked up the Lady Indians first victory at #3 doubles 8-1 over Lexis Puhl and Olivia Stevenson. In singles action for Catawba, #4 Steffi Cook (Alpharetta, GA/Milton HS), #5 Hall and #6 Hannah Kovach (Salisbury, NC/E. Rowan HS) all won in straight sets against their respective competition.

On Wednesday, both Catawba teams take on Trine University from Indiana.
