Myers Earns SAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, SC -- Impressive performances at a pair of weekend races have earned Mars Hill’s Alex Griggs and Catawba’s Olivia Myers SAC Cross Country Runner of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.

Myers took home women’s honors following an individual title at the Catawba Invitational.  The junior finished with a time of 18:58 -- a personal record – which was more than 17 seconds ahead of the runner up.  She is only the second female runner at Catawba to break 19 minutes.

Myers’ individual championship helped Catawba take home the team title as well.

For the second week in a row, Griggs earned the men’s award after finishing second overall at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational with a time of 26:41.  His time was just three seconds behind the individual champion.

Led by Griggs, Mars Hill placed second overall as a team and was the top Division II finisher.
