Men's Golf Ties for Fourth at Opening Event

SEVIERVILLE, TN -- Catawba finished fourth out of 15 teams at the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament which concluded on Tuesday.  Carson-Newman hosted the event at the 6,994-yard, par-72 River Course at the Sevierville Golf Club.  Belmont Abbey won the team title with a score of 582.  Catawba had a 595 total. 

Matt Hardman (Gettysburg, PA/.Gettysburg Area HS) led Catawba with an 11th-place finish.  He had rounds of 71 and 74.  Zach Griffis (Winston-Salem, NC/Mount Tabor HS) had a pair of 73’s and was 12th.  Belmont Abbey’s Adam Hedges was the medalist with a 138 score, winning by four shots.
