(9/12/12) Kennedy Posts Top 10 Finish in Opening Event for Women's Golf SEVIERVILLE, NC -- The Catawba women’s golf team opened the season with a 10th-place finish among 16 teams at the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate which concluded on Tuesday. The event was hosted by Carson-Newman at the 5,811-yard, par-70 Highlands Course at the Sevierville Golf Club. Newberry edge out California, PA, by two shots for the team title with a score of 606. Catawba posted a 650 score. Madison Kennedy (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury HS) led Catawba with a score of 150 to finish fifth. She had rounds of 77 and 73, which marked her career low round. Leslie Long (East Bend, NC/Forbush HS) had rounds of 80 and 78 to place 27th. Kimesha Anthony, of Columbus State, shot a 144 total to earn medalist honors by two shots.
