Men's Soccer falls in SAC Semifinals to end season

GREENEVILLE, TN – Top-seeded Tusculum advanced to the finals of the 2002 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament with a 2-0 win over fifth-seeded Catawba on Saturday morning at Pioneer Field. The tournament is being held in conjunction with the Food Lion SAC Fall Sports Festival, being held this weekend on the Tusculum campus. The Pioneers, ranked No. 20 in NCAA Division II, improves to 17-2-1 on the season, while Catawba ends its season at 12-8.TC got on the board first in the 39th minute when Jeremy Partin (Germantown, OH) headed in a crossing pass from Matt Rouse (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada). The Pioneers added an insurance goal at the 50:57 mark as senior David Ormesher (Brisbane, Australia) one-timed a volley on a cross from Rouse and Gerald Watt. Goalkeeper Tony Swaminathan (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) recorded his 10th shutout of 2002, which is a school record and tied for fourth all-time in conference history.
