(10/6/12) Men's Soccer Sees Unbeaten Streak Come to End 
JEFFERSON CITY, TN -- Catawba had its eight match unbeaten streak snapped with a 1-0 loss to host Carson-Newman in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday night at McCown Field. The loss was the first for the Catawba Indians since September 5 and drops the Indians to 6-3-3 overall and 1-1-3 in the SAC. The Eagles improve to 5-4-1 and 3-1-1. The game featured only six shots on goal, three by each team, but the Eagles got the lone tally in the 31st minute. Sindre Weko knocked in a cross from Taylor Jolley for the eventual game winner. Catawba's best chance to tie came in the 60th when Corey Faughnan's (Jacksonville, NC/Jacksonville HS) header went off the crossbar. The Indians also had six corner kicks, but could not beat C-N keeper Rumwalt Le Gueval, who made three saves. Frankie Cardelle (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury HS) stopped two shots for Catawba. Catawba returns to league action on Wednesday, hosting Wingate for a 7:30 p.m. match at Frock Field. Related Item: Box Score |
