Men's Soccer Downed by Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, NC -- Mount Olive scored twice in the second half to grab a 2-0 win over visiting Catawba in men's soccer action on Wednesday night at Amon Field.  The Trojans improve to 4-8-2, while the Catawba Indians fall to 7-5-3.

Catawba was reduced to 10 men six minutes into the second when defender Brian Woulfe (Naas, IRELAND/Monteverde Academy) was issued a red card.  Mount Olive capitalized on the short-handed Indians in the 69th minute as John Kwennah got a goal after Evan Harvey (Apex, NC/Apex HS) pinned his shot against the post, but was deemed to have crossed the line.

The Trojans got an insurance goal in the 72nd minute as Tanner Tolston headed home a cross from Tyler Vandevender.  Mount Olive held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.  Harvey posted five saves.  Nick Bernsdorf had three saves for the Trojans in just over 80 minutes of action, while Rob Gray had one save in finishing up the shutout.

Catawba hosts Lincoln Memorial in a league contest on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
