SALISBURY, NC -- Mario Pinto (Uberlandia, BRAZIL) scored a pair of goals to lead Lincoln Memorial to a 2-0 win over host Catawba in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday night at Frock Field.  The Railsplitters improve to 9-3-1 overall and 5-3 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 7-6-3 and 2-3-3.

Pinto put LMU on top in the ninth minute as he converted a pass from Leonardo Germniani (Utajuba BRAZIL).  The Indians had a pair of goals called back in the opening half on a foul and a hand ball.  Catawba pressed in the second half for the equalizer, but Pinto headed home a cross from Fabio Fukumoto (Indaiatuba, BRAZIL) in the 81st minute for a two-goal cushion.

Less than 30 seconds after Pinto's second tally, Catawba had a header by Corey Faughnan (Jacksonville, NC/Jacksonville HS) hit the post.  LMU held a 15-11 edge in shots with a 5-2 advantage on shots on goal.  Evan Harvey (Apex, NC/Apex HS) had three saves for Catawba, while Marcel Barwanietz (Berlin, GERMANY) stopped two shots for LMU.

Catawba ventures to Pfeiffer on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match then returns to Frock Field on Saturday to close out the regular season against Brevard at 7:30 p.m.
