Kirkman's Goal Lifts Women's Soccer Over Limestone


GAFFNEY, SC -- Catawba posted its second-straight shutout with a 1-0 victory over host Limestone in women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field.  The Catawba Indians improve to 11-6, while the Saints fall to 9-6.

Mary Kirkman (Burlington, NC/Williams HS) tallied the lone goal for the match.  The freshman chipped a shot over the keeper from the top of the box in the 55th minute.  Lady Indian keeper Bethany Davis (Salisbury, MD/Parkside HS) recorded six saves in posting her second straight shutout.

Limestone put six of its nine shots on target and were awarded seven corners to two for the Lady Indians.  Catawba had two of four shots on goal.  Emma Sperry had one save in the second half for Limestone.  Mariette Martinez was untested in goal in the opening half.

Catawba will host Brevard to close out the regular season on Saturday at 5 p.m.
