(10/24/12) Men's Soccer Snaps Scoring Drought in 2-0 Win at Pfeiffer
MISENHEIMER, NC -- Catawba snapped a three-match losing streak with a 2-0 win against host Pfeiffer in men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Lefko Field. The Catawba Indians improve to 8-6-3, while the Falcons fall to 0-15-2. Ezra Ntirugelegwa (Durham, NC/Jordan HS) broke the scoreless tie in the 38th minute. He took a pass from Matt Gallagher (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill HS/Saint Leo) and tucked in a shot just off the post for the 1-0 edge. It marked the first goal for the Indians in four matches after being shutout in their last three loses. Carson Smith (Mooresville, NC/Mooresville HS) gave Catawba a two-goal margin when he converted a penalty kick with 20 minutes to play. Evan Harvey (Apex, NC/Apex HS) recorded the first shutout of the year for Catawba, making one save. Christian Padilla (Huntersville, NC/Hopewell HS) had three saves for Pfeiffer.
