Men's Soccer Snaps Scoring Drought in 2-0 Win at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, NC -- Catawba snapped a three-match losing streak with a 2-0 win against host Pfeiffer in men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Lefko Field.  The Catawba Indians improve to 8-6-3, while the Falcons fall to 0-15-2.

Ezra Ntirugelegwa (Durham, NC/Jordan HS) broke the scoreless tie in the 38th minute.  He took a pass from Matt Gallagher (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill HS/Saint Leo) and tucked in a shot just off the post for the 1-0 edge.  It marked the first goal for the Indians in four matches after being shutout in their last three loses.

Carson Smith (Mooresville, NC/Mooresville HS) gave Catawba a two-goal margin when he converted a penalty kick with 20 minutes to play.  Evan Harvey (Apex, NC/Apex HS) recorded the first shutout of the year for Catawba, making one save.  Christian Padilla (Huntersville, NC/Hopewell HS) had three saves for Pfeiffer.  Catawba held a 10-8 edge in shots with a 5-1 margin on goal.

Catawba caps its regular season on Saturday night as it hosts Brevard at Frock Field at 7:30 p.m.
