Men's Basketball Falls to Athletes In Action
SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba fell to Athletes In Action 102-59 in a men's basketball exhibition game on Monday night at Goodman Gym. Maurice Knight (Portsmouth, VA/W. Branch HS/Kansas City CC) led three Catawba players in double figures with 13 points. AIA's Justin Cecil led all scorers with 26 points.
Cecil hit on half of his 16 shots and canned four-of-10 three-pointers in notching his game-high total. Brandon Adams (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Paul Campbell (11 points, 10 rebounds) each posted a double-double for the visitors. Andrew Ferry added 16 points.
Lee Martin (Mt. Airy, NC/N. Surry HS/Hargrave) and freshman Reggie Perkins (Greensboro, NC/Phillips Exeter HS) joined Knight in double figures for Catawba with 11 each. Tyrece Little (Greenville, NC/Rose HS) had seven points and seven rebounds with freshman Elon Edwards (Greenville, NC/Rose HS) scoring nine points with three assists.
AIA shot 55% for the game, including a sparkling 63% in the opening half, and also held a 52-28 edge on the boards. Catawba hit on 31% for the game and made nine three-pointers.
