Former Men's Soccer Standout Named Head Women's Soccer Coach at NC State

RALEIGH,NC -- Former Catawba College men’s soccer standout, Tim Santoro, has been named the head women’s soccer coach at N.C. State.  The announcement was made by Director of Athletics Debbie Yow on Friday.  Santoro is a 1994 graduate, who earned honorable mention All-America honors as a senior.

Santoro had previously served as associate head coach at Wake Forest.  He directed and coordinated recruiting and helped develop Wake Forest during his five seasons into one of the nation’s premier programs.  During his tenure, Wake Forest achieved major firsts in the program’s history, including the NCAA College Cup and the No. 1 overall seed in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the 2010 ACC Championship, and a top-5 recruiting class in 2010.

Prior to his arrival at Wake Forest, Santoro served as the Associate Head Coach of the College of Charleston and was integral in building one of the most successful eras in the history of the College of Charleston women's soccer program from 2001-2008.  He coached at Charleston with another former Catawba graduate, Kevin Dempsey ‘93, who is currently an assistant coach at LSU.

Another 1994 Catawba graduate, Stephanie McCormick, is an assistant women’s basketball coach with the Wolfpack.
