Montevallo Falcons Soar Past Catawba 4-0
SALISBURY, NC -- The Catawba College men’s soccer team fell to the visiting Montevallo Falcons 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Frock Field. With the loss the Indians fall to 8-6-1 on the year, while Montevallo improves to 8-7.
Most of the first half, the two teams remained scoreless until the Indian goalkeeper, Evan Harvey, collided with teammate Kevin Scott in the 41st minute that ended the day for both players. Just 39 seconds later, the Falcons broke the ties with a goal by Kevin Francis.
In midway through the second half Montevallo’s Ricky Davey ripped off two quick on Catawba’s goalie, Frnakie Cardelle, before drawing a penalty kick for the Falcons. Davey successfully took the shot to put the Falcons up 2-0 in the 70th minute.
Davey would strike again eight minutes later with the assist from Jeffery Hessenberger against Catawba’s third goalie, Christian Watts. In the 84th minute the Falcons tallied the final goal of the night by Steven Didik.
Montevallo outshot the Indians 14-7 on the night while the corners were in Catawba’s favor 4-3. Brandon Ledgeway recorded the win for the Falcons while making just one save on day. Catawba’s Cardelle tallied two saves while Harvey and Watts each made one.
Catawba returns to action on Saturday as the Indians host South Atlantic Conference opponent Mars Hill at 7:30 pm.
