Ridolfo Scores Three Late Goals to Help Men's Lacrosse Knock Off #13 Seton Hill
SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba rallied from a 9-8 deficit in the final four minutes to knock off 13th-ranked Seton Hill 11-10 in men’s lacrosse action on Saturday night at Shuford Stadium. The Catawba Indians improve 7-7, while the Griffins fall to 9-5.
The game was tied 4-4 at the break, but Seton Hill led 7-5 after the third quarter. Steven Ridolfo (Charlotte, NC/Providence HS/Gettysburg) pulled the Indians even at 8-8 midway through the fourth quarter, but Dylan Lefebvre put the Griffins back on top with 5:05 left.
Ridolfo would again tie the score with 3:36 remaining and John Scheich (Waxhaw, NC/Weddington HS) gave the Indians a 10-9 edge with 1:41 to go. Ridolfo followed with the last of his four goals 20 seconds later for a two-goal lead.
Erik Hultgen pulled Seton Hill within a goal with a minute left, but Daniel Rew (Forest Hill, MD/Bel Air HS) won the ensuing face off and Catawba ran down half of the clock. The Griffins got the ball back with 30 seconds left, but Jacob Breig (Greenfield, MN/Delano HS) caused a turnover in the final 10 seconds to secure the win.
Ridolfo had four goals to pace Catawba. Scheich tallied three goals and added two assists. Freshman Ryan Applegate (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL/Ponte Vedra HS) posted 18 saves in goal for the Indians. Matt Delmonico scored three goals for Seton Hill and Lefebvre had two goals and three assists.
Catawba will conclude its season next Saturday against nationally-ranked Limestone at 7 p.m.
