CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Catawba College men's soccer team claimed a 2-1 victory Wednesday evening over South Atlantic Conference foe, Queens at Dickson Field.  The Indians improved to 3-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the conference with the win.  With the loss, Queens falls to 3-8 overall and 3-3 in the SAC.

The Indians jumped out to an early lead in the first half with a goal by Adam Kurdi. Brian Woulfe assisted on the goal that lifted Catawba to a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Queens responded in the 61st minute after Catawba keeper, Christian Watts, saved a shot by Corey Brown but could not stop the rebounded shot of Philip Makhlouf. Catawba freshman Michael Basnett scored the game winning goal in the 71st minute on a breakaway. The Indians would hold strong for the remaining time to claim their first win of the South Atlantic Conference for the season.
