Golf Inks a Pair for Class of 2019


SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba College golf coach Sam Gealy has announced a pair of signees for the 2015-16 season.  The two Class of ’19 recruits joining the team in the fall of 2015 are Madison Moore, of Westfield, N.C., and Jay Minter, of Sanford, N.C.

Moore, a product of East Surry High School, will be joining the women’s golf program.  She recently concluded an outstanding high school career with a fourth-place finish at the NCHSAA 2A State Championships which was held in Pinehurst, N.C.  Moore, a four-time all-conference performer, was named Player of the Year as a senior.  She is also an outstanding student with a 4.39 GPA and a member of the National Honor Society.

Minter will be joining the men’s golf program and is from Southern Lee High School.  His high school team was the Cape Fear Valley Conference Champions in 2012 and he has earned all-conference honors for the past three years.  Minter is an outstanding student, posing a 4.46 GPA while being a member of the National Honor Society.
