2016 Football Schedule Features Five Home Games
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba College Director of Athletics, Larry Leckonby, has released the 2016 Catawba Indians football schedule. The season will open with a trip to West Georgia on Sept. 3 and the regular season will conclude with a trip to Lenoir-Rhyne on Nov. 12. There are five home games on slate for 2016.
It will mark the second straight year Catawba will open with West Georgia, a NCAA II semifinalist. Catawba also made the playoffs last year before losing to Tuskegee. West Georgia would later top Tuskegee before falling to Northwest Missouri in the semifinals.
Catawba’s home opener will renew a series with Winston-Salem State. The Sept. 10 contest is the lone night game for the Indians and matches teams that have not played since 2006. In 2005, WSSU was the first night opponent in the renovated Shuford Stadium.
The rest of the opponents remain in the same order as last year with the game sites reversed. The conference opener for the Indians will come on Sept. 17 against Carson-Newman for Family Weekend. Homecoming is set for Oct. 29 against Brevard.
