Football ranked top 15 in two pre-season magazines

Catawba College has been tabbed a pre-season top 15 team by two pre-season college football magazines.  The Indians are 11th in Lindy’s, while appear at 15th in Street and Smith’s.  Three of the Tribe’s 2003 opponents, Carson-Newman, Fayetteville State and Presbyterian also appear in both polls.
Three Indians have been tabbed as pre-season All-Americans.  Senior defensive back Jamel Jackson is listed in both magazine’s, while junior offensive lineman Daniel Lynch was tabbed by Street and Smith and sophomore kicker Allan Rohrbaugh by Lindy’s.

Reconstruction of the new Shuford Stadium has been completed and the Indians will christen the stadium against cross-town rival Livingstone in the annual Mayor’s Cup Game on Sept. 6 at 1:30 pm.  Catawba then hits the road for the next four weeks before returning home for a South Atlantic Conference game at 1:30 against Mars Hill on Oct. 11.
