Men's Soccer begins 2003 campaign at Barton on Saturday

Catawba College will open its 2003 menís soccer season on Saturday afternoon at Barton College. The menís soccer team has been climbing up the league standings over the past few years and look to challenge for a top three finish this season. Coach Craig Turnbull returns nine starters from last year, including four all-conference performers. Heading that list is defender Kenny Crowe, who also earned all-region honors as a freshman in 2002. Crowe, who scored three goals, helped anchored a defense that allowed less than two goals per match. Senior forward Brennan Regner led the team with 10 goals, while midfielders Ross Hudgins and Mo Norman also return. Hudgins had three assists, while Norman had four goals and a team-leading seven assists. In addition to Regner, Jake Pace and Tyler Kulp, who tied for second on the team with six goals each, also return. #####
