SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba junior linebacker Kyle Kitchens (Decatur, Ga./Decatur) has been named a second team AFCA All-American. Kitchens was also named to the CCA All-Super Region 2 second team and was joined on that team by senior cornerback Case Woodard (Snellville, Ga./Arabia Mountain/Ga. Military).
Kitchens led Catawba and the South Atlantic Conference with eight and a half sacks. That total ranked 33rd in NCAA II. He totaled 16 stops for losses among his 49 tackles and was credited with 15 quarterback pressures. Kitchens caused two fumbles, recovered one and broke up three passes.
Woodard led the Indians with four interceptions on the season, ranking third in the SAC and 48th nationally. He returned one of his picks for a score. Woodard had three touchdowns on the season as he also returned a fumble for a touchdown and recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. On the year, Woodard blocked a league-high three kicks, which was fifth-best in NCAA II.
