Mulkey and Sheppard Lead Men's Golf in Opening Round of Rendleman Inv.
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba currently stands 10th at the Richard Rendleman Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament after Monday’s opening round. The Catawba Indians are hosting the event at the 6,665-yar, par-71 Country Club of Salisbury.
Queens holds the team lead after one round as the Royals posted a 289 total to lead North Greenville by three shots. Anderson is four shots back after a 293. Catawba had a 308 score.
Tyler Mulkey (Salisbury, N.C./N. Rowan/Charlotte) and Mack Sheppard (Harrisburg, N.C./Hickory Ridge) lead the way for Catawba. Each opened with a 76 and are in 24th place. Lenoir-Rhyne’s Brad Robinson leads the field by three shots after his first-round three-under-par 68. Grayson Bell, of Anderson, Christian Constance and Evan Gfeller, of North Greenville, and Gilberto Pena, of Queens, are in second as all posted even par scores of 71.
The tournament concludes with an 18-hole round on Tuesday.
