Catawba junior linebacker, Dustin Cox, has been named the South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for football after the Tribe’s 17-14 win over Fayetteville State on Saturday. Also earning honors this week is Presbyterian quarterback Zach Ellis, who threw for 355 yards and six touchdowns and Wingate kicker Chris Brewer, who average 44.5 yards in punting and converted six PAT’s. Cox, from High Point, NC, was in on a career-high 13 tackles in Catawba’s win at 14th-ranked Fayetteville State. The Ledford High School product was in on three stops for losses and broke up two passes on the night. One of his break-ups came on a third down play in the final five minutes to force a punt at midfield. His three stops for losses totaled 15 yards. #####RELATED LINKS
