Kitchens Adds AP and CCA All-America Honors to 2017 Accolades

SALISBURY, N.C. – Catawba senior linebacker Kyle Kitchens has earned All-America football honors from two more organizations. Kitchens, who earlier became only the fourth Division II player to ever be named to three consecutive AFCA All-America teams, received second team honors from the AP and the CCA.

Kitchens had also been named to the Little AP All-America team and the CCA All-America team in 2015 when he was both the South Atlantic Conference and CCA Super Region Two Defensive Player of the Year. He was a three-time all-region selection and a three-time first team All-SAC pick.

In 2017, Kitchens led the league with 12.5 sacks and ranks sixth nationally. He recorded a sack in eight of 11 games. Kitchens eclipsed his season high of 12 which he had in 2015.

Kitchens posted 216 career tackles, with 71 of those going for losses. He forced seven fumbles and recovered six to go with one career interception, which he returned 90 yards for a touchdown.
