Hallman and Barnes Record Season High Points in Loss to Anderson
ANDERSON, S.C. - - Madison Hallman and Talia Barnes recorded season high points in Catawba women’s basketball action at Anderson University on Saturday afternoon. The Catawba Lady Indians fell to the Trojans 69-75 in the South Atlantic Conference matchup. The loss drops Catawba to 12-10 overall and 10-5 in the SAC, while Anderson improves to 14-8 and 8-6 in the conference.
The Lady Indians shot 38% from the field. Hallman led Catawba and canned five three-point baskets to help her post her season high 19 points for the second time this season. Barnes recorded her season high of 18 points and six rebounds. Taisha DeShazo added 12 points for the Lady Indians. Anderson shot 51% and was led by Alexis Dillard’s 17 points.
Catawba started off slow, not scoring until over halfway through the first 10-minute period and allowing Anderson to build their lead quick. The Lady Indians took an 8-19 deficit to the second quarter. The Trojans added to their lead, but Catawba began chipping away to only trail by seven at the half.
After the break, the Lady Indians continued to cut into the lead but were only able to come within two. A layup by the Trojans gave them a double digit lead to head into the fourth 10-minute period. Catawba kept fighting but fell just six points shy at the final buzzer.
The Lady Indians return to Goodman Gymnasium on Wednesday for a South Atlantic Conference game against Lenoir-Rhyne. Tip off between Catawba and LR will be at 6 pm.
