Women's Golf Slides Up Two Spots to Finish 12th at Kiawah
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Catawba moved up two spots on Sunday to finish 12th among 16 teams at the Barton Invite at Kiawah Women’s Golf Tournament. The event was played at the 5,845-yard, par-72 Oak Point Golf Club.
Catawba shaved 15 shots off Saturday’s first round, shooting a 331 to finish at 677 for the two rounds. Florida Southern (619) bettered first-round co-leader Wingate (622) by three shots to win the team title. Tusculum (628) was third.
Kaley Barts had the best finish for Catawba. She followed her opening 77 with an 83 and tied for 20th with a 160 total. Jaime Cassell shot a 170, while Sarah Coltrane and Victoria Hedrick had the best round two score as each had an 82 on Sunday.
Madison Corley, of UNC Pembroke, defeated Dominika Czudkova, of Lincoln Memorial, on the first playoff hole to win medalist honors. Both had tied at 148 after Czudkova fired a 68 on Sunday to erase a 10-shot deficit after round one. Corley led after the first day with a score of 70.
Next up for Catawba is the Converse Invite on Feb. 19-20 at the Carolina CC in Spartanburg, S.C.
