Men's Soccer knocks off #15 Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, TN Sophomore Kenny Crowe's (Reeders, PA) goal 21 minutes into the second half proved to be the match-winner as Catawba College upended 15th-ranked Tusculum in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action Wednesday night at Pioneer Field. For the Pioneers, it was their first home loss of the season, and just the third over the last two seasons. Catawba improves to 9-5-1 overall and 5-2 in the SAC, while Tusculum falls to 11-2-1 and 4-2-1. Both teams will host a first round match in the Food Lion SAC Tournament on Nov. 4. Catawba has two remaining home dates on its schedule, this Saturday and next Wednesday. The Indians got on the board first at the 32:30 mark when freshman Nathan Zuzga's (Troy, MI) shot trickled in off the left goal post. Zuzga's try came from just inside the 18-yard box on the right side and just got past TC netminder Michael Zappas (Palm Coast, FL). Tusculum evened the match at 1-1 early in the second half when senior Matt DeMartini (Dover, NJ) converted a breakaway opportunity. On Crowe's scoring tally, he dribbled uncontested from midfield to 30 yards out and placed his shot perfectly in the upper right corner. Senior Ryan Hudgins (Poquoson, VA) added an insurance marker 10 minutes later on a diving header off a direct kick from Zuzga.
