Recap of Weekend Spring Football Scrimmage
Catawba’s recent spring scrimmage began with a coming out series from the five-yard-line. The defense held the offense to a pair of three-and-outs before Reid Carlton produced a first down on a pass to Jourdan Osinskie. Ken Avent III followed with a first-down pass to Tyler McHargue before Kenyatta Greene ran for a 12-yard first down. Cameron Davis produced a tackle for loss before Avent hit Osinskie for a first down. Andrew Bynum capped the opening set with a first down run.
Highlights of the drive series saw Greene post a 17-yard run, while Bynum added a 10-yard run for a first down on a fourth-down play. Avent had first down tosses to Zac Waters and Dre Dunbar, which was a third-and-long conversion.
The scrimmage ended with a red zone session that saw Bynum run for a first down and Avent hitting Waters for a touchdown pass. Isiah Huffin recorded a sack with Mike Miller intercepting a pass. Caleb Allen had a tackle for loss on a second-down play and followed it up with a pass break in the end zone.
Catawba is scheduled for a half scrimmage on Wednesday and a full scrimmage on April 7.
