Wallace earns SAC Offensive Player of Week for Football

ROCK HILL, SC - The South Atlantic Conference has announced its Football Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 25, 2003. Earning honors this week are Catawba tailback Rodney Wallace, Tusclum defensive back Ricardo Colclough and Tusculum punter Brice Stefanick. Wallace, a 5-10, 225, junior from Bamberg, SC, ran for a season-high 157 yards to help eighth-ranked Catawba to a 30-19 win over Newberry. The former Bamberg-Ehrhardt standout scored a pair of third quarter touchdowns as Catawba rallied from a 7-6 halftime deficit. His 25-yard run with 7:35 remaining put Catawba on top 27-19. He had 98 of his rushing yards in the final half when the Indians ran for 180 of their 249 rushing yards. Colclough, a 6-0, 180, senior from Sumter, SC, had a pair of interceptions as the 20th-ranked Pioneers upset third-ranked Carson-Newman 27-18. The former Sumter High School product was in on six tackles and broke up three other passes in the win. The two picks gives Colclough 11 in his career to equal the Pioneer school record. One of his interceptions came at the Tusculum five-yard-line in the fourth quarter. Stefanick (Travelers Rest, SC/Travelers Rest HS), a 6-2, 240, senior, helped Tusculum knock off third-ranked Carson-Newman 27-18. Stefanick averaged 41.3 yards over six punts, including a key 53-yarder backed up in his own end zone in the fourth quarter. The SAC Players of the Week are determined by a vote of the eight sports information directors of the conference schools. #####
