Men's Golf Finishes 10th at SAC Championships


ANDERSON, S.C. -- Catawba completed play at the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Golf Championships on Tuesday and finished in 10th place. The three-round tournament was played at the 7,002-yard, par-72 Cobbs Glen Golf Club.

Carson-Newman claimed the championship by eight shots over Newberry, shooting a final day 287 to increase its one-shot edge over the Wolves the Eagles had entering the final round. C-N posted an 878 score for the three rounds. Catawba had a 925 score after a 317 total on Tuesday.

Carson-Newman’s Tom Forster rallied from four shots back on the final day to claim medalist honors by a single shot over Anderson’s Jake Miller. Forster posted a four-under-par 68 to finish on 211. Queens’ Henry Bryden (213) and Mars Hill’s Harry Butler (214) rounded out the top four.

Catawba’s best finish came from Mack Sheppard, who was 18th with a 227 total. Tyler Mulkey had the best day for the Indians in the final round with a 76, posting a 231 total and finishing 35th.
