Baseball Falls in Game One to Lincoln Memorial
SALISBURY, N.C. - - The Catawba Indians fell to the visiting Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters in South Atlantic Conference baseball action on Friday evening in Newman Park. The 3-6 loss drops Catawba to 23-19 overall and 16-6 in the SAC, while improving Lincoln Memorial to 26-17 and 11-11 in the conference.
Jackson Raper led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Cameron Morrison and Luke Setzer tallied three and two hits respectively.
Lincoln Memorial scored in the opening inning of the game on three hits. The Railsplitters added three unearned runs in the second to take a quick 4-0 lead.
The Indians were able to put together their first run in the fifth inning. Catawba plated two runs on a Raper double in the bottom of the sixth to cut Lincoln Memorial’s lead to three.
Both teams went scoreless the remainder of the game for a 3-6 final score.
The Indians and Railsplitters will continue the series on Saturday with a double header at 1 pm. Catawba will honor their seniors before game one and returning alumni between games.
