Regnar, McMahon lead men's soccer over Francis Marion 1-0

SALISBURY, NC – Senior Brennan Regner (Mebane, NC) tallied the lone goal in the regular-season finale to lead the Catawba Indians over the Francis Marion Patriots 1-0 in non-conference men’s soccer action Wednesday night at Frock Field. The Indians finish the regular season at 11-5-1, while the Patriots drop to 9-8. Catawba will host Lenior-Rhyne on Tuesday night at 6:00 in the first-round of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 29, 2003 ATTN: SPORTS Physical play on senior night from both squads and solid defense led to a scoreless first half with Catawba leading in the shot category 8-3. Regner’s goal came in the 58th minute as Nathan Zuzga (Troy, MI) sent a cross inside the six-yard box to Regner, who sent the pass back across the goal-mouth and snuck it inside the right post for his 10th of the season. All seven Francis Marion shots were on goal, but Carl McMahon (Sydney, AUSTRALIA) stopped all seven, improving to 6-3 on the year in picking up the shutout, his second of the season. .
