SALISBURY, N.C. - Freshman midfielder Michael Nuguse served up two assists in Catawba's 3-0 victory over Shaw at Frock Field Saturday evening.

The Charlotte native helped the Indians (2-8-0) put an end to a six-match losing streak, assisting on Quinn Bryan's goal in the 54th minute and Borja Gaspar's marker in 20 minutes later.

Shaw fell to 3-6-1 in the Bears second season as a program.

After a foul by the Bears' in their defensive third, Keenan Tuck gave the Indians a 1-0 lead at the 17:50 mark. He smashed a low liner around the wall and into the bottom left corner of the net.

Bryan and Nuguse connected eight minutes into the second half, doubling Catawba's lead to 2-0.

Nuguse drove down the left side and worked along the baseline on the far side, before chipping a pass towards the middle of the box for Bryan, who buried it in the back of the net.

At 73:22, Nuguse made a similar run and danced around two defenders before finding an open Gapar, who redirected the ball past the keeper and inside the far post.

Catawba went nearly a month without a win, which was a 3-0 shutout of USC Aiken Sept. 6.
