Men's Soccer Extends Win Streak to Three Games
Salisbury, N.C. -- It was another monster offensive game for the Catawba men's soccer team (4-2, 1-1 SAC) as they put up five goals for the second straight match in a win over Shaw (1-6). With the five goals today, the Indians have now scored 13 goals in their last three games.
The scoring started when Gianluca Evers scored for the Bears in the 8th minute of the game. Just four minutes later, Ben Bielby scored his first of two goals on the day from an assist by Michael Nuguse. Shaw re-took the lead when Danny Cameron put one in the net to make it 2-1.
Catawba would score the final two goals of the half to go up 3-2. Bielby scored in the 32nd minute to tie the game while Simone Trentin scored right before the half ended to give the Indians the lead.
The second half started with a bang when Keenan Tuck scored his third goal in the last two games to put the Indians ahead 4-2. Not long after, Cameron would score his second goal of the match to bring the Bears back within a goal.
The Indians would put the game away however when Michael Nuguse scored in the 76th minute. The win extends the team's win streak to three games.
Up next for Catawba is an October 2nd match at Newberry. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
