Men's Soccer Loses Close 2-1 Match to Lenoir-Rhyne

Salisbury, N.C. -- It was a tight match from the start between Catawba (6-5, 2-4 SAC) and Lenoir-Rhyne (7-5-1, 4-2-1 SAC) as the Bears would eventually come out on top 2-1 at Frock Soccer Complex Wednesday afternoon.

The first half was quiet for the most part, with LR getting the majority of the shots on goal. The Catawba defense stood its ground however and the game would remain scoreless throughout half number one.

The second half got started with a bang as Joseph Allerton scored within the first two minutes to give the Indians a 1-0 advantage. The Bears would tie the game in the 58th minute when Victor Cascon scored to make it 1-1.

The game-winner came off the foot of Luca Koelsch to give LR their second goal of the half. From there the Catawba offense could not tie the game despite multiple opportunities on goal.

The Bears out-shot the Indians 18-8 on the game, while Luc Denisselle had three saves for Catawba.

Up next for the Indians is another home match, this time against Tusculum, at 8 pm this Saturday night.
