MEN'S SOCCER SUFFERS ANOTHER 1-0 SETBACK

BELMONT, NC -- Host Belmont Abbey scored just over a minute into the second half and claimed a 1-0 win over Catawba in men’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.  The Crusaders improve to 2-0, while the Catawba Indians fall to 1-2.

After a scoreless first half, Conor Wells headed home a rebound at the 46:22 mark to notch the game's lone goal.  Catawba would get nine corner kicks in the second half, but could not manage to find an equalizer.

Belmont Abbey had a 13-12 edge in shots with Catawba claiming a dozen corners to six for the Crusaders.  Evan Harvey (Apex, NC/Apex HS) picked up seven saves for the Indians.  Catawba is back in action on Saturday, hosting Barton around 2:30 following a women's match between the two schools.
