MEN'S SOCCER RALLIES AGAIN FOR 2-1 WIN OVER ST. ANDREWS

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba overcame a 1-0 deficit to grab a 2-1 victory over visiting St. Andrews in men’s soccer action on Wednesday night at Frock Field.  The Catawba Indians improve to 3-2 after their second-straight win, while the Knights fall to 2-3.

After a scoreless first half, St. Andrews got on the board in the 56th minute as Breno Calegari (Sao Paolo, BRAZIL) connected from about 15 yards with a shot that glanced off the inside of the far post.  The Indians were able to equalize just six minutes later when Ezra Ntirugelegwa (Durham, NC/Jordan HS) guided home a loose ball in from the of the goal after a corner kick from Kenny Bonilla (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury HS).

Bonilla helped start the winning play for the Indians as he broke in on Knight keeper Corey Francis (Greenville, NC).  Carson Smith (Mooresville, NC/Mooresville HS) would collect a ball and send a ball back across to Faughnan, who fired in a shot from a sharp angle at the 76.39 mark.

Luke McCarthy (Naples, FL/Naples HS) collected three saves in goal for Catawba.  Francis had five stops for the Knights.  Catawba opens conference play on Saturday at home at Frock Field against Anderson with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 pm.
