Mike Eden arrived at Catawba College in August of 1999, joining the staff as an instructor for Physical Education, Athletic Training, and Exercise Science. He also serves as the athletic trainer for the men’s and women’s soccer teams and men’s lacrosse team.
Originally from Medford, N.J., Eden graduated cum laude from Elon College in 1995, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. After working for a short time as a Rehabilitation Techician at the Moses Cone Memorial hospital in Greensboro, NC, Eden completed graduate study at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 1998-99, receiving a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training/Exercise Physiology.
Eden, along with the other athletic training teaching staff, instructs athletic training students in various educational classes that include Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, and Therapeutic Modalities. In addition to being an academic advisor, he also serves as an approved clincial instructor for the Athletic Training Educational Program.
Over his athletic training career, Eden has worked as an ATC for the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association, Dixie Top 150 Premier Lacrosse Camp, and has presented at the state, district, and national levels. In 2010, he received the “Athletic Training Educator of the Year” award from the North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Eden and his wife, Emilee, a Physician Assistant at Farrington Family Medical Center, currently reside in Salisbury, N.C.
