Tysinger Named Daktronics Softball Region Pitcher of the Year

Catawba College freshman Carley Tysinger (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS) has been voted the Daktronics NCAA II Southeast Region Softball Pitcher of the Year by the region’s Sports Information Directors.  Tysinger was also an all-region first time selection from Daktronics and was named second team all-region by the NFCA.

Tysinger and Terry Voted to SAC Softball All-Tournament Team

ROCK HILL, SC -- Lenoir-Rhyne first baseman Jessica Fellmeth, who had four hits in the Bears’ two championship series wins over Catawba on Sunday, has been named the 2013 Food Lion SAC Softball Championship MVP, and headlines the All-Tournament Team that was announced on Monday.

Softball Falls Twice to LR in Tourney Championship Games

SALISBURY, NC -- Lenoir-Ryhne came out of the loser's bracket to beat Catawba twice to claim the Championship of the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Whitley Field.  The third-seeded Bears rallied for a 7-5 win in the opener then topped fifth-seeded Catawba 8-0 in five innings to earn the title.

Softball Earns Spot in SAC Championship Game

SALISBURY, NC -- Two early runs and another complete game by Carley Tysinger (Lexington, NC/C. Davidson HS) gave Catawba a 2-1 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne and a berth in the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship game.  The Catawba Indians, now 32-17, will face Lenoir-Rhyne (33-14) in Sunday's final as the Bears battled back the championship day with a win over Wingate in an elimination game.
